Sacramento (ATC News Bureau:):- A big crowd attended Sohini Sangeet Music Academy's 3rd Annual Concert, February 19th in Highland High School's Little Theater. Sohini Sangeet Music Academy www.sohinisangeet.org established by Pt. Binay Pathak teaches the traditional culture and deep knowledge of India’s Classical Hindustani music, both vocal and instrumental here in Sacramento. Many schools and teachers are there in Bay Area but no teachers here with the knowledge and musical power of Pt. Pathak who teaches the Deep Knowledge of Hindustani Classical Music, a tradition of spiritual power and depth. This deep knowledge from Pt. Pathak’s gharanahas been taught from Guru to Sishya for over 500 years and now Sacramento is privileged to have a Guru of Panditji's level here to study this precious musical knowledge from him. Students study in the Academy's Sacramento location and in their Rocklin branch. Coming soon classes in Folsom.

The evening was enjoyed by all as Pt. Pathak's vocal and instrumental students performed throughout the evening. Students Subhashree Bose, Aparajita Joshi, Aditya Shreyas, Shama Elias, Rakesh Prasad, Harjinder Mattu, Dalvir Singh (“Dill” Nijjar), Om Sharma, Shoab Rahim, Bharati Bhakta, Rana Bhowmick, Allyn Moriswala and Maya Schweizer performed. The hall was packed full with standing room only during the concert. Students were accompanied by Pt. Binay Pathak on harmonium, Daljit Singh and Joe Fajen on tabla. There was a wide variety of music with classical, ghazal and film songs performed before an enthusiastic crowd. During the evening tasty samosas, pakora, and sweets were served to the crowd. The beautiful music, the students, all families and friends created a festive atmosphere for this 3rd Annual Concert. At the end of the student program there were a few songs by Shakila Ahmed and then the school's founder and Guru, Pt. Binay Pathak performed for the crowd which had waited all evening for his performance. After the music ended all students were awarded certificates recognizing their musical accomplishments. Every year Sohini Sangeet Academy Music School holds an annual concert where students and guest musicians perform.The 3rd Annual Sohini Sangeet Music Academy concert was a grand success and all students are looking forward to next year's concert.
